Phungsan Dog, Pride of Korean Nation

Phungsan dog, a native kind of Korea, has been popular as the national dog among people for its cleverness and distinguished temper.

Its home is Phungsan County (now Kim Hyong Gwon County in Ryanggang Province) and its name is derived from this local name.

This dog is well known to the world for its strong fighting spirit, bravery and living power.

President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il took steps to register Phungsan dog as state natural monument, set Kwangdok-ri of Kim Hyong Gwon County as sanctuary and protect and multiply its purebred in the crisis of extermination.

Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un saw to it that Phungsan dog symbolizing the stamina of the Korean nation was instituted as the national dog in November Juche 103 (2014).
